Ellen Zimmerman has been a champion of the environment in the Columbia Valley since 1970 when she first discovered the joys of birding. She lives near Golden where she and her husband Don raised two sons and countless organic vegetables on 150 acres. She is a community environmental, political, and social activist.
Ellen has worked both as a volunteer and program manager for Wildsight for many years and considers the achievement of Ramsar status for the Columbia Wetlands as a career highlight. Ellen looks forward to the day when an effective boating regulation will help ensure the ongoing protection of the unparalleled ecological values of the Columbia Wetlands.
