Dr Mark Zehnder has always had a passion for birds of prey.  He has operated on many injured birds that come to the Invermere Vet Hospital, usually repairing broken wings.  Once the broken bones have been pinned, the bird has to rest in a confined place until the bone is mended.  Now the injured bird is ready to regain it's muscle strength and cardio condition so it can fly well enough to hunt again and be released back to the wild.

Our flight cage is large enough to allow large birds like eagles, to exercise in a safe and quiet environment.  We broke ground in May of 2011 and the 20x20x100 ft enclosure was completed that fall.  Since then over 55 injured birds have been rehabilitated in the flight cage and then released back where they were found.
